W.Bro Vokins passed suddenly on 28th July 2016
Born 19th. February 1932 and passed to the Grand Lodge above on the 28th. July 2016.
Dennis did his National Service from 1950 to 1952 and on completion of this he joined the 4th. Battalion Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry TA. With the amalgamation of various Regiments in 1967 he transferred to the 4th. Battalion Royal Green Jackets and in 1986 he joined the newly formed 5th. Battalion Royal Green Jackets. Dennis achieved the rank of Company Sergeant Major and retired from the TA in 1992. Dennis was based at Davies Street during part of his time with the TA and was President of the Sergeant’s Mess in 1991 to 1992. His name can be seen on the President of the Sergeant’s Mess boards in the drill hall at Davies Street along with several other past members of the Lodge.
Dennis was initiated into the Lodge on the 22nd. October 1987. He was proposed by Brother Andy Brogden and W. Bro. Peter Dawtry, both members of the TA.
Dennis became Master of the Lodge in 1997 and received London Grand Rank in 2003.
Dennis was appointed as Chaplin in 2001, an office that he maintained until his passing. He was also Secretary of the Lodge of Instruction for a number a years.
